Preservation Society

The Dubuque County Historical Society (DCHS) has come a long way since it was formally organized in 1950. From the Mathias Ham House serving as DCHS headquarters to receiving our founding collection from the Richard Herrmann Museum of Natural History in the mid-1960s, DCHS, including our properties the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium and the Mathias Ham Historic Site, is proud to welcome and inspire over 200,000 onsite visitors annually. It is forward thinking and generous people like you who have helped to build this iconic institution on the Mississippi.
