WE have three different aviaries out in our boatyard so make sure you see them all!
Raptor Roost
Raptors play a key role in natural pest control as their diet consists of rodents and insects. As predators, they are at risk of bioaccumulation of toxins from rodenticides and insecticides. Humans can reduce this risk by using less of these substances. Visit our resident American Kestrel and Barn Owl in our roost.
Bald Eagle Aviary
The Bald Eagle is not only the National emblem but also the second-largest bird of prey (a predatory bird) in America! This majestic bird is also the only eagle unique to North America.
Red-Tailed Hawk Aviary
Scarlet, the Red-tailed Hawk on campus, sustained a right wing injury when she was young, causing her to be “non-flighted.” Because of her injury, she cannot be released into the wild. She receives great care from our keepers and gets to interact with visitors and school children as one of the ambassador animals!
